This Master of Public Heath programme is designed to attract students who wish to develop careers in the field of public health practice, management or research, as well as practitioners and managers already in the field who wish to enhance their career development. It is tailored towards the needs of diverse health professionals (including doctors, pharmacists, nurses, health visitors, midwives, social workers and allied health, social care and environmental health professionals) as well as the wider public health workforce in the non-governmental sector.
Delivered by a highly experienced teaching team, including practitioners in the field of public health, the programme provides expertise in areas of research methods and evaluation; policy, planning and commissioning; theory and methods for promoting health and managing illness.
Compulsory modules on the programme provide valuable skills needed to critically review and evaluate
evidence for interventions and strategies to improve public health outcomes. Students will gain the skills and
understanding required to meet the societal, ethical, cultural, economic, political and management challenges to
improve health in population.
